Overview

Product and Purpose

The SENTRA-16 Seat and Seat-Belt Monitoring System is a 32-channel (16 seats + 16 belts), CAN-Bus based safety monitoring unit that tracks crew seat occupancy and seat-belt status in real time on military land vehicles.

Designed for a chassis-referenced sensor architecture, the unit processes the analogue sensor signals through a filtering and signal-conditioning stage, converts them into reliable digital data and sends them to the vehicle mission computer. The commander or mission system always knows which seats are occupied and which belts are fastened.

Typical Applications

  • Crew seat occupancy monitoring: Tracking personnel status in armoured and tactical land vehicles
  • Seat-belt status tracking: Fastened / unfastened status and total crew status
  • Mission and warning system integration: Data to the vehicle mission computer, safety and warning systems over CAN-Bus
  • In-vehicle visual monitoring: Seat and belt status on screen with an optional TEDEG military monitor

The TEDEG Advantage

SENTRA-16 integrates directly into the vehicle manufacturer's existing electronic architecture over CAN-Bus, and can also be supplied as a single package together with a TEDEG-supplied military monitor for visual monitoring. Its modular architecture adapts to different vehicle platforms.

Together with the other SENTRA family member, the SENTRA KBM Camera Power Distribution Module, a vehicle's crew and vision systems can be sourced from one supplier.

Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ

What does SENTRA-16 monitor?+

It monitors the occupancy of 16 seats and the fastened / unfastened status of 16 seat belts simultaneously and continuously over 32 channels, from which the total crew status is also derived.

How does it connect to vehicle systems?+

The unit sends its data to the vehicle mission computer over CAN-Bus (ISO 11898, 500 kbps). The same data can also be passed to the vehicle's safety and warning systems. The physical connection uses a MIL-DTL-38999 connector.

How is it monitored in a vehicle without a display?+

The vehicle manufacturer's own display infrastructure can be used. Alternatively, SENTRA-16 can be supplied with an optional TEDEG military monitor that shows seat and belt status on an in-vehicle screen.

What power does it need?+

It operates from 18–32 VDC with a nominal 24 VDC. Maximum power consumption is below 15 W.

What environmental conditions is it designed for?+

It is designed for an IP65 enclosure, −32 °C … +55 °C operation and −40 °C … +70 °C storage. Its flanged base bolts to the vehicle chassis, and its mechanical design suits a vibrating environment.
