Overview
Product and Purpose
The PowerGuard YGG-DS11 Military APU is an auxiliary power unit for armoured platforms, delivering 10 kW at 28 VDC. It is also known by the designation TDG-10 (TDG-10-YGG-DS). Modern military vehicles such as tanks, armoured vehicles and military trucks need reliable power to stay mission-ready. The YGG-DS11 provides that power while the main engine is off, keeping weapon systems, communications equipment and climate control running.
By taking over auxiliary loads from the main engine, the APU saves fuel, reduces engine wear and helps extend the vehicle's service life. It also keeps critical systems powered without interruption during engine maintenance or refuelling.
Unlike bulky generators, TEDEG APUs are integrated directly into the vehicle's design and need no separate batteries or fuel tanks. A low acoustic signature allows quiet operation on missions that call for discretion.

Typical Applications
- Tanks: powering weapon systems, communications equipment and climate control with the main engine off
- Armoured vehicles: keeping mission systems ready without running the engine, with a low acoustic signature for discreet silent watch
- Military trucks: 28 VDC power for on-board systems, independent of the main engine
- Maintenance and refuelling: continuous power to critical systems during engine maintenance or refuelling
- Climate control management: switching the air-conditioning system on and off from the remote controller
The TEDEG Advantage
Integrated into the vehicle's design, the YGG-DS11 delivers 10 kW without separate batteries or fuel tanks. Automatic and manual start options give the operator flexibility. Real-time fault monitoring, a fault code indicator and access to the latest 500 log records help maintenance crews find the source of a problem quickly. The IP67 remote controller manages both the APU and the air-conditioning system from a single handset.
The same architecture can be adapted to the platform's needs across a 2–100 kW range. For short-term backup power with the main engine off, see the PowerGuard EBB supercapacitor backup unit; for other options, browse our Auxiliary Power Units (APU) category.
Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ
Are the YGG-DS11 and TDG-10 the same product?+
Yes. The TDG-10 and TDG-10-YGG-DS designations refer to this APU system. Both correspond to the same 28 VDC / 10 kW auxiliary power unit with a Kubota D1105 diesel engine.
Which systems does the APU power?+
With the main engine off, it provides uninterrupted power to critical systems such as weapon systems, communications equipment and climate control. It keeps supplying power during engine maintenance and refuelling as well.
Which engine does it use?+
It uses a Kubota D1105 water-cooled, vertical, turbocharged diesel engine. The engine is started by a starter motor and runs on diesel fuel. The system has integrated water cooling.
How is the APU controlled?+
The control panel next to the APU provides LED indicators, Start/Stop, Auto/Manual and Reset buttons, a fault code indicator and night mode. A remote controller can also switch the APU on and off, display APU data on its information screen, manage the air conditioning and trigger an emergency shutdown.
Which military standards does it meet?+
The control panel and remote controller are compliant with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461E/F. The control panel is designed to IP67; the remote controller also has IP67 dust and water protection and operates from −40 °C to +85 °C.
