Overview

Key Characteristics

The PowerGuard Outdoor combines four key characteristics in a single chassis:

  • ✅ 60 Hz + 400 Hz dual-frequency conversion — in the same system
  • ✅ Outdoor design to MIL-STD-810F — rain, dust, humidity, vibration and shock resistance
  • ✅ Shipboard power systems compliance (MIL-STD-1399B) — for land and naval platforms
  • ✅ Smart PDU + Ethernet remote control — integrated, not a separate module
🏆 **Field example: Land Rocket Platform →** — A single PowerGuard Outdoor replaced three separate systems.

Product and Purpose

The PowerGuard Outdoor 115 VAC 60/400 Hz Military Mobile Frequency Converter combines three critical capabilities required by modern defence platforms in one compact military-grade system: frequency conversion (50 Hz ↔ 60 Hz / 400 Hz), isolated AC-AC power conversion, and a smart power distribution unit (PDU). It is designed for outdoor field deployment by TEDEG Defence.

The unit converts a 3-phase mains supply to the 115 VAC 60 Hz and 115 VAC 400 Hz output formats required by military equipment, delivering high stability with low harmonic distortion. 12 kVA total capacity is distributed across 7 isolated outputs.

Engineering and Technical Capability

Core features:

  • Static double-conversion + IGBT PWM architecture — no moving parts; clean, isolated and stable power output
  • Dual OLED display (Info + Fault) + colour-coded physical buttons
  • Ethernet web server + desktop GUI software (Ethernet and RS-422 communication via KN9)
  • Real-time V/A/Hz monitoring — all inputs and 7 outputs
  • Overload performance — 125% → 5 min, 200% → 5 sec, 250% → 1 sec (0.8 PF)
  • MIL-DTL-38999 military connectors

Outdoor durability:

  • -32°C to +55°C wide operating temperature
  • 3000 m altitude
  • Rain, dust, humidity, vibration and shock
  • 270 ± 5 kg weight

Compliance standards:

  • MIL-STD-810F — Environmental durability
  • MIL-STD-1399B — Naval platform power interface compliance

Typical Application Scenarios

Defence — land and naval platforms:

  • Mobile command-and-control vehicles — field C2 containers, mobile operations centres
  • Field communications vehicles — tactical truck power distribution
  • Naval platforms — ship auxiliary power systems (MIL-STD-1399B compliant)
  • Forward operating bases and mobile military camps — continuous 60 Hz supply
  • Field hospitals and surgical containers — critical medical equipment supply
  • Temporary military base and camp infrastructure — 24/7 mobile power system

Industrial and test:

  • Test and calibration laboratories — 60 Hz and 400 Hz dual-frequency requirement (military equipment testing, motor calibration, naval device verification)
  • Special military motors and servo drives — land/naval equipment requiring 400 Hz frequency
  • Precision production lines — processes requiring power stability
  • Data centres and field IT containers — power supply for critical IT infrastructure

8 Key Capabilities

  1. 1.Dual frequency in one system — 60 Hz + 400 Hz in the same chassis, no separate converter required
  2. 2.Smart built-in PDU — 7 independent isolated outputs auto-switched by load
  3. 3.Ethernet web server — browser access without additional software
  4. 4.Real-time V/A/Hz monitoring + instant alarm notifications
  5. 5.Dual OLED + colour-coded physical buttons — practical operator interface
  6. 6.Static double-conversion + IGBT PWM — stable sine wave with < 5% THD
  7. 7.Overload resilience — at 0.8 PF: 125% → 5 min, 200% → 5 sec, 250% → 1 sec
  8. 8.Military standards compliance — MIL-STD-810F environmental + MIL-STD-1399B shipboard power

TEDEG Advantage

PowerGuard Outdoor is an indigenous engineering solution that combines 60 Hz + 400 Hz dual frequency, 7 isolated outputs, a smart PDU, Ethernet remote control and an outdoor design in a single chassis. A complete solution in one 270 ± 5 kg unit for field mobile command, land/naval platforms, and precision test laboratories.

Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ

Which platforms is PowerGuard Outdoor designed for?+

The system is designed for land vehicles (mobile command, field C2 container, tactical trucks), naval platforms (ship auxiliary power MIL-STD-1399B), field hospitals, forward operating base mobile camps, and test/calibration laboratories. The 60 Hz outputs supply land-based military equipment; the 400 Hz outputs supply special military motors, calibration devices, and naval platform equipment.

What is static double-conversion?+

It refers to an AC ⇒ DC ⇒ regenerated AC architecture. Input voltage is first converted to DC, then a clean AC output is generated via microprocessor-controlled, IGBT-based high-frequency PWM. The output is delivered through an isolated output transformer, and total harmonic distortion stays below 5%. The system is static and contains no rotating machinery.

How does Ethernet remote control work?+

The device includes a built-in web server — by accessing its IP from a browser without installing any additional software, you can view real-time V/A/Hz values for all inputs and the 7 outputs, independently switch each output on/off, and access the system error logs. Communication runs over Ethernet and RS-422 via the KN9 connector. The TEDEG desktop GUI software provides advanced control and monitoring.

What is the overload performance?+

The continuous rating is 12 kVA at 0.8 PF. Under overload: 125% load → 5 minutes, 200% load → 5 seconds, 250% instantaneous → 1 second. The system has phase-sequence, overload, short-circuit and over-temperature protection.

Which military standards does it comply with?+

MIL-STD-810F (environmental — temperature, humidity, vibration, shock, rain, dust) and MIL-STD-1399B (shipboard power systems). The system operates from -32°C to +55°C and at altitudes up to 3000 m.
