Overview

Product and Purpose

T-Light TWR (T-Light Turret) is a high-efficiency, LED-based military searchlight (projector) system designed for integration into military weapon turrets. It is built for long-range search, target recognition and operational illumination.

Because the searchlight is attached to the weapon turret, it turns with the turret through unlimited 360° in the horizontal axis, and its own mechanism adds 135° of vertical travel. Depending on configuration, the vertical range is set to +90° / −45° or symmetrical. The beam can therefore be pointed straight at the sector the turret is facing.

The light source is 20 high-power white LEDs in a 4-row × 5-LED matrix. The system can be ordered with a 10° (long-range) or 15° (wide-area) collimator lens. The projector unit is rated IP69K and the remote control unit IP65.

Lens options:

  • TL-TWR-20W-10-135 — 10° lens: Narrow-beam long-range version, for search and target recognition at distance
  • TL-TWR-20W-15-135 — 15° lens: Wide-area version, for lighting a broader sector

Control and diagnostics:

  • Remote control unit (IP65): Power on/off LED, vertical movement buttons, BIT and error LED, white light on/off button, projector on/off button and projector home button
  • BIT (Built-In Test): Built-in fault detection; faults are signalled by the BIT and error LED on the controller
  • Home button: Used for continuous calibration of the searchlight

Typical Applications

  • Weapon turret integration: A searchlight that turns horizontally with the turret on military vehicles
  • Long-range search: A narrow, far-reaching beam with the 10° lens version
  • Target recognition: Lighting the sector the weapon turret is aimed at
  • Operational illumination: Wide-sector lighting of the working area with the 15° lens version
  • Harsh field conditions: Outdoor duty with an IP69K projector body and a −32 °C … +60 °C operating range

The TEDEG Advantage

T-Light TWR takes its horizontal movement directly from the weapon turret; the searchlight only moves itself in the vertical axis. This keeps the beam aligned with the direction the turret is facing. System weight is ~3.7 kg, and the Ø 156.8 mm round flange with 4 × M6 fixings keeps installation on the turret simple.

The 16–33 VDC input range covers the 24/28 VDC network of military vehicles, and a typical draw of 50 W keeps the load on the vehicle's electrical system low. IP69K protection on the projector body means resistance to dust and to high-pressure, high-temperature wash-down. LED lifetime is rated at ≥ 50,000 hours (L70). Choosing between the 10° and 15° lens at the ordering stage matches the product to the mission profile.

For high-mast area lighting independent of the turret, see the T-Light Mobile Lighting Tower; for other platform solutions, browse the Tactical Systems category.

FAQ

What platforms is T-Light TWR mounted on?+

T-Light TWR is designed for integration into military weapon turrets. It takes its horizontal movement from the turret platform (unlimited 360°) and moves 135° vertically with its own mechanism. It mounts via a Ø 156.8 mm round flange with 4 × M6 fixings.

What is the difference between the 10° and 15° lens versions?+

TL-TWR-20W-10-135 is the narrow-beam long-range version with a 10° lens. TL-TWR-20W-15-135 is the wide-area version with a 15° lens. Both use 20 white LEDs with a total luminous flux of 4,590 lm (±10%); lens angles are FWHM values.

How is the searchlight controlled?+

Control is from an IP65 remote control unit. It carries a power LED, vertical movement buttons, a BIT and error LED, white light and projector on/off buttons, and a home button. The BIT system detects faults, and the home button is used for continuous calibration.

What are the power requirements?+

The system operates from 16–33 VDC. Typical power consumption is 50 W, with a maximum of 60 W. The light source consists of 20 high-power white LEDs rated at 3 W / 700 mA.

What environmental conditions does it operate in?+

It is designed for an operating temperature of −32 °C … +60 °C. The projector is rated IP69K and the controller IP65. The body is anodised aluminium alloy in standard matt black (RAL 9005). LED lifetime is rated at ≥ 50,000 hours (L70).
