Overview
Product and Purpose
The T-Light Programmable Warning Unit is a warning device built for dependable operation in demanding outdoor conditions, combining audible and visual alerts in a single housing. It offers multi-colour LEDs and a three-level audible alarm. Colour, sound level and operating mode can be changed on the fly by messages from the connected control system.
The product is made in two separate models, one communicating over RS-485 and one over CAN-Bus. The protocol is specified at the time of ordering and production is configured to match; it cannot be changed in the field. The IP68-rated metal housing gives full protection against dust and water, so the unit keeps working in all weather. Blackout mode switches off every warning when required, supporting operational secrecy in military and security applications.

Connection and mounting:
The unit connects through a military-grade PT02E-10-6P connector with an O-ring seal. The same pinout applies to both models:
| Pin | Function |
|---|---|
| A | Power input (16–32 VDC) |
| B | Ground (GND) |
| C | CAN_H / RS-485 A |
| D | CAN_L / RS-485 B |
| E | CAN-Bus GND / RS-485 GND |
| F | Scenario input / output |
It is fixed with M4-bolted surface or flange mounting, and a clamp adapter is available as an option; wall and surface mounting are both supported. The compact Ø110 × 65 mm body fits into confined spaces.
Functions:
- Multi-colour LED alerts: Green for normal operation, yellow for a condition needing attention, red for a critical alarm / emergency; blue and purple as additional colour options
- Adjustable audible alert: Low, medium and high levels, up to 110 dB. The audible alert can be switched off to run on visual warnings only
- Blackout mode: LEDs and audible alerts are fully switched off, giving a silent mode that cannot be detected from outside
- Scenario-based programming: Light colour, flash mode and audible behaviour change according to commands from the control system, making integration with sensors, PLCs and central management systems straightforward
- Test and diagnostics: Manual test commands over the communication protocol verify the audible and visual functions; connection status and the last received command can be queried
Typical Applications
- Military vehicles and platforms: Reporting system status with a green / yellow / red colour code and audible alerts
- Military and security tasks requiring concealment: Switching off all light and sound with a single command in blackout mode
- Industrial applications: Scenario-based alarms and warnings linked to sensors and PLCs
- Central management systems: Warning points programmed and tested remotely over RS-485 or CAN-Bus
- Outdoor installations: Open-air use with an IP68 housing and a −32 °C … +55 °C operating range
The TEDEG Advantage
T-Light defines its warning behaviour in software rather than hardware: colour, flashing and sound level change with commands from the control system. The same unit can therefore be adapted to different scenarios on different platforms. Test commands and status queries over the bus allow the device to be checked in the field without removing it.
On the mechanical side, MIL-STD-810H 514.8 vibration and 516.8 shock ratings, ≥ 20 J impact resistance and IP68 sealing come together in one compact housing. The MIL-DTL-5541E chromate coating and polyester powder coat protect against corrosion, and the passively cooled design needs no fan. The 16–32 VDC input range and low current draw make it easy to fit to a vehicle power network.

FAQ
Can I switch between the RS-485 and CAN-Bus models later?+
No. The product is made as two separate models working with RS-485 or CAN-Bus. The preferred communication infrastructure must be specified at the time of ordering so production can be configured to match; the protocol cannot be changed in the field.
Can the audible alert be switched off?+
Yes. The audible alert has three levels — low, medium and high — with a maximum output of 110 dB. If preferred, sound can be switched off so the unit runs on visual warnings only. Blackout mode switches off both the LEDs and the audible alerts completely.
What do the LED colours mean?+
In standard use, green indicates normal operation, yellow a condition needing attention and red a critical alarm or emergency. Blue and purple (optional) are also available. Colours can be set to steady or flashing and change according to commands from the control system.
What mechanical and environmental conditions is it designed for?+
The housing is rated IP68 (60 minutes at 1 m immersion). Vibration resistance is 5–2000 Hz, 7.7 grms, MIL-STD-810H 514.8 Cat. 24, shock resistance MIL-STD-810H 516.8, Method I, 40 g / 11 ms, and impact resistance ≥ 20 J (IEC 60068-2-75). Operating temperature is −32 °C … +55 °C and storage temperature −40 °C … +70 °C.
How is the unit mounted and connected?+
The unit is fixed with M4-bolted surface or flange mounting, and an optional clamp adapter is available. It connects through a PT02E-10-6P military connector with an O-ring seal; pins A–F carry power input, ground, the communication lines and the scenario input/output. The housing measures Ø110 × 65 mm and weighs 480 g ± 50 g.
