Vehicle Camera Systems

Rugged 1080P cameras for driving, rear view, manoeuvring and compartment monitoring

A modern military or tactical vehicle relies on cameras for driving in low light, reversing, manoeuvring in tight spaces and watching crew, troop and cargo compartments. The TDG-CAM family covers these positions with 1080P cameras rated IP69K, from long-range infrared models to a starlight rear-view camera and compact dome and mini units.

About Vehicle Camera Systems

Which camera for which need?

All TDG-CAM cameras run on 12 VDC. On 24 / 28 VDC military vehicles they are supplied through the SENTRA KBM Camera Power Distribution Module, which provides 11 isolated 12 VDC camera outputs from a MIL-STD-1275E input and carries the video lines on the same harness. Connector, cable length and mounting interface can be adapted to the platform.

For the electronics that power and connect cameras, displays and the mission computer see Vetronics (Vehicle Electronics).

The complete vehicle vision set — cameras, SENTRA KBM camera power, the TDG-VMS-111 video management unit and the TDG-DSP-101 display — is presented as one system in the End-to-End Vehicle Vision System catalogue (PDF).

Local situational awareness and closed-hatch driving. In armoured and tactical vehicles the crew often drives and manoeuvres with the hatches closed, so the cameras take over the view around the hull. Together they form a surround-view, local situational awareness system (LSAS): the TDG-VMS-111 video management unit stitches four wide-angle cameras into a real-time 360° bird's-eye view, rear-view and driver cameras extend the driver's vision, and the TDG-DSP-101 display shows the picture at the driver or commander position. TEDEG supplies and integrates the TDG-CAM cameras and the TDG-DSP-101 display, and delivers them with the SENTRA KBM camera power module and the TDG-VMS-111 as one system.

FAQ

How can I verify that a camera is MIL-STD compliant?+

Ask for the test report: the standard and test method (for example MIL-STD-810G Method 514.6 vibration or MIL-STD-461F RE102), the name of the laboratory, the test date and the serial number of the unit tested. The words "compliant" or "compliance approach" on their own do not show that a test was carried out. TEDEG does not list a standard on a product page unless it appears in the datasheet. If your programme requires MIL-STD qualification, we draw up the test plan with you before the contract.

How are the cameras powered on a 24 / 28 VDC military vehicle?+

All TDG-CAM cameras run on 12 VDC. On 24 / 28 VDC vehicles they are supplied through the SENTRA KBM Camera Power Distribution Module, which provides 11 isolated 12 VDC camera outputs from a MIL-STD-1275E input; the video lines run in the same cable harness.

Can the connector, cable and mounting be adapted to our platform?+

Yes. Connector, cable length and mounting interface can be adapted to the platform. Choose models from the list above, then send your platform and camera positions through the quote form.
