Overview

Product and Purpose

The PowerGuard 400/115 VAC AC-AC Military Inverter (Part No: TDG-PFC-A0000) is a military-grade power converter that turns a 3-phase 400 VAC, 50–60 Hz supply into a 115 VAC, 50 Hz output. It splits a total of 10 kVA across four separate outputs: two 3-phase and two 2-phase 115 VAC outputs.

The "400" in the name refers to the input voltage. The unit does not produce 400 Hz; all outputs are 50 Hz. This means 115 VAC equipment can be powered directly at a site, camp or platform connected to a 400 VAC grid.

The output is delivered through an isolated output transformer, which provides high-voltage insulation between input and output. All input and output connections use MIL-DTL-38999 and MIL-DTL-5015 series military connectors. The Ethernet interface on KN6 allows the unit to be monitored and switched on and off remotely.

The system is designed for indoor and outdoor use and has passed MIL-STD-810G testing. Its resistance to dust, humidity, rain, vibration and shock provides reliable power conversion for field operations, mobile mission systems and forward bases.

  • Specialised military motors and power-intensive equipment: Mission equipment with high energy demand

Industrial and critical infrastructure:

  • Test and calibration laboratories: Test equipment that needs precise power
  • Heavy industry and automation: Large industrial motors and control systems
  • Data centres: Continuous supply for servers and storage
  • Emergency and disaster management: Transportable power source

The TEDEG Advantage

PowerGuard 400/115 combines four outputs sharing 10 kVA, an isolated output transformer, a dedicated colour-coded button for each output and remote control over Ethernet in a single cabinet. Supplying 3-phase and 2-phase loads from their own connectors makes it easier to manage different load groups separately. Its overload capability gives headroom of up to 250% for short peaks.

For equipment that needs 400 Hz power, see the PowerGuard 115/200 VAC 400 Hz Static Frequency Converter; for 400 VAC distribution, see the PowerGuard AC Power Distribution Panel.

Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ

Does the "400" in the name mean 400 Hz?+

No. "400/115" refers to the 400 VAC input and 115 VAC output voltages. The input is 3-phase 400 VAC, 50/60 Hz, and every output is 115 VAC, 50 Hz. Equipment that needs 400 Hz power should use a static frequency converter.

How is the 10 kVA split across the outputs?+

Power is split across four outputs: KN2 at 3.6 kVA and KN3 at 2.4 kVA (115 VAC 3-phase), and KN4 and KN5 at 2 kVA each (115 VAC 2-phase). Together they add up to 10 kVA. Each output has its own military connector and its own colour-coded button on the unit.

What is the overload capability?+

The system delivers 10 kVA continuously at 0.8 power factor. Under overload it withstands 125% for 5 minutes, 200% for 5 seconds and 250% for 1 second. The system also has overload, short-circuit and over-temperature protection.

How is it monitored and controlled remotely?+

The Ethernet interface on the KN6 connector allows the unit to be monitored and switched on and off remotely. The desktop remote control and monitoring software over Ethernet shows input phase voltages and currents as well as output voltages and currents, and the emergency command is sent from it too. On the unit itself there is BIT status monitoring and an OLED information/fault display.

What environmental conditions does it operate in?+

It is designed for indoor and outdoor use from −30 °C to +50 °C. Dust, vibration, humidity, rain and shock resistance is in line with MIL-STD-810G, and the system has passed MIL-STD-810G testing. It is also MIL-STD-1399B compliant. It weighs 160 ± 5 kg.
