Overview
Product and Purpose
The PowerGuard TPS-28 Power Management Unit (part number TDG-PFC-A0000) converts 230 VAC mains into isolated 28 VDC and distributes that power through individually switched outputs. TEDEG Defence developed it to deliver reliable 28 VDC for defence and industrial applications from a single enclosure.
The unit is built around three independent converter modules: one 28 V / 50 A and two 28 V / 10 A isolated converters. Each module feeds its own group of switched outputs, so the same unit can supply high-current loads and low-current electronic subsystems side by side. Total output power is ≈1.7 kW, with an option to upgrade up to 10 kW.
TPS-28 is more than a power converter. Its MCU-based control board measures the voltage and current of every converter and every output, reports them over an RS-485 HD link and lets operators switch outputs on and off remotely. In practice, the converter, distribution box and monitoring card sit in one enclosure.

| Module 2 (28 V / 10 A isolated converter) | 4 × 28 V / 2 A + 1 × 28 V / 10 A switched outputs |
| Module 3 (28 V / 10 A isolated converter) | 4 × 28 V / 2 A + 1 × 28 V / 10 A switched outputs |
| Total output power | ≈1.7 kW |
| Ripple and noise | Max. 150 mVp-p |
| Isolation | Each power converter and output module individually isolated |
| Connection | MIL-DTL-38999 military connector or industrial terminal block option |
Monitoring, control and test:
- MCU-based central control board: Manages all three modules and every output switch from one point.
- Per-channel measurement: The voltage and current of each converter and each output switch can be read independently.
- Remote monitoring: Real-time current and voltage values for all modules, plus fault modes and status, over the RS-485 HD interface.
- Remote control: Each output switch can be turned on and off individually, and a Remote ON/OFF input controls the whole unit.
- Power OK alarm output: Signals a fault or loss of power to the host system.
- BIT (Built-In Test): Runs two automatic self-tests per second and detects and reports faults with 90% accuracy.
Protection and parallel operation:
- Overvoltage protection (OVP)
- Overcurrent and overload protection (OCP / OLP)
- Overtemperature protection (OTP)
- Parallel operation with current sharing
Environmental resilience:
| Feature | Value |
|---|---|
| Cooling | Passive, fanless |
| Operating temperature | −32 °C to +55 °C |
| Environmental testing | MIL-STD-810G (vibration, shock, humidity, rain) |
| EMI/EMC | MIL-STD-461 |
| Enclosure | Rugged, dust- and moisture-protected, suitable for outdoor use |
With no fan, there are no moving parts in the cooling path. That cuts maintenance and removes the risk of fan failure in dusty conditions. MIL-STD-461 electromagnetic performance helps the unit sit alongside other electronic systems on military platforms without interference.
Typical Applications
- Armoured land vehicles: 28 VDC supply for communication, control and mission computers
- Command and control systems: Power for radar, communication and sensor infrastructure
- Mobile mission systems: Portable energy for field operations
- Naval platforms: Backup power for mission electronics on ships and boats
- Industrial defence infrastructure: DC power for laboratories, test centres and production lines
- Disaster and emergency systems: Field electronics supply for coast guard and search-and-rescue units
The TEDEG Advantage
TPS-28 brings AC-DC conversion, output distribution and remote monitoring together in one enclosure. One unit replaces a separate power supply, distribution box and monitoring card, which saves wiring and mounting space. Because every output is measured and switched individually, a problem on one load can be isolated without disturbing the others. With 50 A, 10 A and 2 A outputs, equipment with very different current needs can run from the same unit.
If you need both DC and AC outputs from a vehicle DC source, see the TPS-24DCAC Military Power Conversion Unit; for 28 VDC from a three-phase AC source, see the PowerGuard-A 380 VAC–28 VDC system.
Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ
What input voltage does TPS-28 accept?+
It is designed for 230 VAC ±10%, 50 Hz mains and supports a 90–264 VAC universal input range. Each module delivers an isolated 28 VDC output.
How many outputs are there, and what are their ratings?+
The three converter modules provide 15 switched outputs in total. Module 1 has 4 × 10 A and 1 × 50 A outputs; Modules 2 and 3 each have 4 × 2 A and 1 × 10 A outputs. Total output power is ≈1.7 kW.
Can the outputs be monitored and controlled remotely?+
Yes. The MCU-based control board measures the voltage and current of every converter and output and reports them over RS-485 HD. Each output switch can be turned on and off individually, and the unit also has a Remote ON/OFF input and a Power OK alarm output.
How are faults detected?+
The BIT (Built-In Test) runs two automatic self-tests per second and detects faults with 90% accuracy, reporting them to the user. Overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent/overload (OCP/OLP) and overtemperature (OTP) protection safeguard both the unit and the connected loads.
What environmental conditions is it built for?+
It operates from −32 °C to +55 °C. The fanless, passively cooled, dust- and moisture-protected design suits outdoor use, and the unit complies with MIL-STD-810G (vibration, shock, humidity, rain) and MIL-STD-461 EMI/EMC requirements.
