Overview

Product and Purpose

The PowerGuard TPS-24DCAC Power Conversion Unit is a compact, high-reliability power conversion and distribution system engineered by TEDEG Defence to deliver the multiple AC and DC supplies required on military vehicles and mobile mission platforms from a single panel.

The unit takes the vehicle's wide-range 16–28 VDC electrical supply and converts it into regulated 12 VDC, 24 VDC, 28 VDC and 36 VDC rails plus 120 VAC / 220 VAC pure sine wave outputs. Every power line is equipped with a front-panel 10 A thermal circuit breaker, an independent LED status indicator, and a military-grade circular connector.

BLACKOUT Mode — Night-Mission Compliance

The front-panel BLACKOUT switch extinguishes every status indicator in a single action, eliminating the unit's light signature under night-mission conditions. In surveillance, ambush, and night-movement scenarios, even panel LEDs represent an operational risk — BLACKOUT mode removes that risk with one switch. The switch operates through a relay group; only the indicators go dark while all power lines remain live.

Protection and control:

  • Six 10 A push-pull thermal circuit breakers — one per output line
  • Overcurrent, overvoltage, short-circuit and over-temperature protection
  • Independent LED power-status indicator per line
  • Chassis grounding stud, all module PE terminals bonded

Thermal management:

  • Four 24 VDC fans providing forced-air cooling (underside)
  • 60 °C thermostat engages the fans automatically
  • Temperature derating: 100% full load from -20°C to +40°C; at +60°C, DC-DC modules run at 70% and DC-AC modules at 60% for continuous operation

EMI protection design:

  • EMI gasket at the front panel–chassis interface
  • EMI mesh across the fan openings
  • Aluminium metal enclosure providing high immunity to electromagnetic interference

Mechanical:

  • Aluminium enclosure, RAL 9005 matte black
  • Removable front panel — perimeter-bolted for full access to internal modules and rapid field maintenance
  • Dimensions: 420 × 350 × 147 mm (mounting envelope 480 × 355 × 176 mm)
  • Weight: 17–20 kg

Typical Application Scenarios

  • In-vehicle military power distribution and conversion — multiple voltages from one panel
  • Mobile command, control and communications platforms — 220 VAC office equipment and 28 VDC military radios simultaneously
  • Field operations and forward-deployed equipment supply — AC power from the vehicle battery instead of a generator
  • Reconnaissance, surveillance and electro-optical system infrastructure — pure sine for sensitive loads
  • Industrial mobile systems requiring multiple voltage rails

The TEDEG Advantage

The TPS-24DCAC combines four regulated DC rails + two pure-sine AC outputs + BLACKOUT mode + EMI-shielded design in a single compact panel. Conventional solutions meet this need with a separate inverter, separate DC-DC converters, and a separate distribution panel; the TPS-24DCAC consolidates all three into one 17–20 kg unit, substantially reducing in-vehicle space, weight, and cable complexity.

The removable front panel and modular power boards enable rapid field maintenance and straightforward integration across different platforms. D38999 and MS3102 military connectors mate directly with platform cable harnesses.

Validated by Turkish Defence Primes: TEDEG Defence holds approved-supplier status with ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB). NCAGE: TM885 with NATO supplier registration, ITAR-Free and EAR99 classification — fully open to export.

Production Maturity: The TPS-24DCAC is delivered at serial-production maturity — modular power-board architecture, certified component supply chain, and rapid serial-production capability. Our team carries more than a decade of R&D and production experience in the defence power-conversion segment.

FAQ

Why four different DC rails in one panel?+

Different equipment inside a modern military vehicle demands different voltages: 12 VDC (commercial-origin accessories and cameras), 24 VDC (standard vehicle equipment), 28 VDC (military radios and mission equipment), 36 VDC (specialised sensor and motor loads). The conventional approach installs a separate converter for each rail — adding cable complexity, space loss, and failure points. The TPS-24DCAC delivers all four from one panel, each with its own circuit breaker and connector.

Why does pure sine output matter?+

The modified sine waveform produced by low-cost inverters causes heating, noise, and failures in sensitive electronics, medical devices, measurement equipment, and some power supplies. The TPS-24DCAC's pure sine output delivers grid-quality AC — every load, from laptops to test instruments, is powered safely.

What exactly does BLACKOUT mode do?+

A single front-panel switch extinguishes all LED status indicators through a relay group. Power lines are not interrupted — the system continues at full capacity; only the light signature disappears. Given that panel LEDs can be spotted from kilometres away during night missions, this feature is a simple but critical element of operational stealth.

Does output power derate at high temperature?+

Between -20°C and +40°C the system runs continuously at 100% full load. Derating begins at +50°C; at +60°C, DC-DC modules continue at 70% and DC-AC modules at 60% capacity. The 60 °C thermostat automatically engages the four fans to manage thermal load.

How is maintenance and internal access handled?+

The front panel is perimeter-bolted and removable — once removed, all internal modules are directly accessible. Thanks to the modular power boards, a faulty module can be replaced in the field; the complete unit does not need to be returned to a depot.

What is the lead time?+

Standard configurations ship in 8-12 weeks. Alternative output combinations or connector types can be customised with short additional engineering time thanks to the modular architecture. TEDEG holds NCAGE TM885, ISO 9001, OSSA, and EYDEP certifications.
