Overview
Product and Purpose
The PowerGuard-A1000 Mil-Spec AC-DC Power Supply (product code ACDC-1000-220-24) is a high-efficiency, fanless AC-DC power conversion unit developed by TEDEG Defence for demanding military and field environments.
It runs from a single-phase universal AC input over a 45–420 Hz frequency range and delivers a regulated 24 VDC / 1 kW continuous output. It carries full load up to +55 °C without derating. The wide frequency range means it can be fed from standard 50/60 Hz mains as well as 400 Hz military power systems.
A fully sealed aluminium enclosure and a conduction-cooled baseplate make the unit suitable for outdoor and vehicle installations exposed to rain, dust, vibration and shock. With no fan there are no moving parts, which means silent operation, high reliability and minimal maintenance over long missions.

Active power factor correction (PFC): The integrated PFC circuit achieves PF ≥ 0.99 at 50/60 Hz, reducing input harmonic distortion and improving efficiency. At 400 Hz the power factor typically falls to 0.75–0.8. Performance stays stable with proper system-level filtering, but this figure should be taken into account when sizing fuses, cabling and EMI filters.
Protection and control:
- Overvoltage (OVP): Automatic shutdown; restarts on its own once the fault clears.
- Overcurrent (OCP): Constant-current limit with auto-recovery.
- Short circuit (SCP): Output disabled, then automatic restart.
- Overtemperature (OTP): Derating above +75 °C, shutdown above +95 °C, recovery below +85 °C.
- Input protection: Surge, reverse polarity and input fuse.
- Remote ON/OFF: Opto-isolated logic input.
- Power-Good (DC-OK) signal: High when the output is within ±5% of nominal.
- Fault/alarm signal: Active during OCP, OTP and SCP conditions.
Connectors and mechanical design:
- Power input (CN1): MIL-DTL-38999 Series III, D38999/24WE6PN, 12 AWG (L, L, N, N, PE)
- Power output (CN2): MIL-DTL-38999 Series III, D38999/24WE6SN, 12 AWG
- Optional communication (CN3): PT02E10-6P, 22 AWG (CAN H/L or RS-485 A/B)
- MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connectors provide 360° EMI shielding, vibration resistance and environmental sealing.
- Main dimensions (mechanical drawing): 220 × 330 × 150 mm, 4 × Ø8.5 mm mounting holes
- Enclosure: IP67-rated, fully sealed aluminium, designed to meet MIL-STD-810 (environmental) and MIL-STD-461 (EMC) requirements.
Remote monitoring (optional): Optional Ethernet, CAN-Bus or RS-485 interfaces provide remote monitoring, configuration and diagnostics. The optional Remote Commander Control Box accessory offers remote ON/OFF, fault reset (CIT/Reset), a Blackout button that instantly disables all outputs, status LEDs and a digital voltage/current display. It has a rugged aluminium front plate for dashboard or rack mounting, connects over an RS-485 / CAN-Bus line and operates from −32 °C to +55 °C; cable length is 3 m as standard, with 5–10 m as an option.
Typical Applications
- Military and tactical vehicles: Stable 24 VDC from onboard AC power sources
- Mobile command and communication units: Supplying radios, routers and control electronics
- Field surveillance and radar systems: Powering outdoor or shelter-based sensor networks
- Naval platforms: Operating from 400 Hz AC grids with stable output regulation
- Industrial and emergency systems: A fanless IP67 solution for critical communication and monitoring equipment
The TEDEG Advantage
The 45–420 Hz input range lets the same PowerGuard-A1000 run on 50/60 Hz mains and on 400 Hz military power systems, so fewer power supply variants need to be stocked for different platforms. The fanless, fully sealed design keeps maintenance to a minimum in dusty, humid conditions. Delivering 1 kW without derating up to +55 °C means the rated capacity is still there in hot climates and enclosed vehicle compartments.
For 24 VDC / 1 kW from a 12 VDC vehicle bus, see the PowerGuard-D1000 DC-DC converter; for 28 VDC from a three-phase 380 VAC source, see the PowerGuard-A 380 VAC–28 VDC system.
Corporate assurance: TEDEG Defence is an approved supplier of ASELSAN, Roketsan and the Turkish Ministry of National Defence (MSB), with NATO supplier registration under NCAGE: TM885.

FAQ
Does PowerGuard-A1000 work on a 400 Hz supply?+
Yes. The input frequency range is 45–420 Hz, compatible with 400 Hz military power systems. At 400 Hz the power factor typically drops to 0.75–0.8, so allow for this when sizing fuses, cabling and EMI filters.
Can it deliver full power in hot conditions?+
Yes. It provides 1000 W continuous output up to +55 °C without derating, across an operating range of −40 °C to +55 °C. It can also deliver 1200 W peak power for up to 30 minutes.
What are the efficiency and power factor figures?+
Efficiency is 91% at 230 VAC input. The active PFC circuit achieves PF ≥ 0.99 at 50/60 Hz full load. At 1 kW output the typical input current is 4.5 A at 230 VAC and 9.0 A at 115 VAC.
What protection does it have?+
Overvoltage (OVP), overcurrent (OCP), short-circuit (SCP) and overtemperature (OTP) protection all recover automatically. The input has surge, reverse polarity and fuse protection. An opto-isolated Remote ON/OFF input plus Power-Good (DC-OK) and fault/alarm signals simplify system integration.
Which connectors does it use, and how is it mounted?+
Power input and output use MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connectors (D38999/24WE6PN and D38999/24WE6SN), and a PT02E10-6P connector is specified for optional communication. The mechanical drawing gives main dimensions of 220 × 330 × 150 mm with 4 × Ø8.5 mm mounting holes; heat is removed through the conduction-cooled baseplate.
