Job Description
TEDEG Defence is looking for an Electrical Panel and Low-Current Assembly Technician to join its Production department. In this role, you will carry out the complete assembly of control and distribution panels for our defence projects, from component layout to wiring, produce low-current wiring for signal, control and data lines as well as special-purpose cable harnesses with military connectors, and contribute to the commissioning of the systems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Electrical Panel Assembly
- Prepare mounting panels according to panel layout and wiring diagrams; cut, drill and fix DIN rails, cable ducts and mounting plates
- Position and mount panel components (switches, fuses, contactors, relays, terminal blocks, power supplies, PLC / relay cards, miniature circuit breakers, indicator lamps) in accordance with the schematic
- Carry out power and control wiring inside the panel; apply cable cross-section selection, ferrule crimping, numbering and labelling (cable markers) in line with standards
- Segregate power and low-current lines inside the panel and ensure a duct layout and cable routing that prevent interference (EMI)
- Make panel earthing, equipotential bonding and chassis connections
- Mount and connect panel door equipment (push buttons, switches, HMI, indicator lamps, connector panel)
- Perform point-to-point, continuity, insulation and functional tests after assembly; identify and report nonconformities
- Support panel labelling, documentation and as-built schematic updates
Low-Current / Wiring
- Wire signal, control, communication and data lines (RS-485, CAN, Ethernet, analogue / digital I/O)
- Produce special-purpose cable harnesses within and between units according to drawings: measuring, cutting, stripping, crimping, soldering
- Assemble military connectors (MIL-DTL-38999, MIL-DTL-5015, D-Sub, circular connectors), insert / extract pins and fit backshells
- Maintain signal integrity through shielding, braid termination, drain wire application and earthing at the correct point
- Apply sleeving / heat-shrink tubing, spiral wrap, cable ties and harness lacing
- Test finished cable harnesses for pin-out, continuity, short circuits and insulation resistance, and keep test records
- Assemble electromechanical systems, integrate them into the system and commission them
- Carry out maintenance, repair and fault-finding on electrical and electronic systems
Requirements
- At least a high school diploma (preferably from a vocational high school, electrical / electronics) or a vocational college degree
- Candidates experienced in electrical panel assembly and / or low-current wiring and harness production will be preferred; candidates who are interested in the field and open to learning will also be considered
- Knowledge of and experience in reading panel layouts, wiring diagrams and technical drawings, or eager to learn
- Familiar with cables, connectors and cable accessories (ferrules, sleeving, backshells, terminal blocks), or eager to learn
- Experienced in using hand tools (crimpers, wire strippers, cable cutters, pin insertion / extraction tools, torque screwdrivers), or eager to learn
- Knowledge of soldering and of measurement / continuity checks with a multimeter is preferred
- Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or similar cable / harness quality standards is an advantage
- Eager and motivated to work as a technician in the defence, aerospace, automotive or similar industries
- Detail-oriented, meticulous, a team player and compliant with health and safety rules
- Male candidates must have completed their military service
