Purchasing Engineer

The Role

At TEDEG Defence, purchasing is not just placing orders. It means building the supply chain that sets the schedule and quality of our projects, seeing risks early and working long-term with the right suppliers.

We are looking for a team member who reads technical documents, finds the right part from the right source, follows delivery dates through to the end and speaks the same language as our engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in industrial, electrical-electronics, mechanical or a related engineering field
• At least 2 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain, preferably in the defence, electronics or electromechanical manufacturing sector
• Solid knowledge of sourcing electronic components (semiconductors, passives), cables, connectors and mechanical parts
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings, bills of materials (BOM) and technical specifications
• Able to collect quotations from domestic and international suppliers, compare them technically and commercially, and negotiate
• Knowledge of import processes, Incoterms and customs procedures
• Experience with authorised distributor networks, counterfeit part prevention, long-lead-time and end-of-life (EOL) part management preferred
• Effective user of ERP systems and MS Office, especially Excel
• Good written English and able to read technical documents
• Analytical, detail-oriented, with strong negotiation and communication skills
• Class B driving licence and able to travel
• Military service completed, exempt or deferred for male candidates

Job Description

• Review purchase requests based on project and production needs; create and track orders in the ERP system
• Collect quotations for electronic components, cables and connectors, mechanical parts, raw materials and services; compare them technically and commercially
• Run supplier selection and evaluation and keep the approved supplier list up to date
• Track delivery dates; identify delay risks early and inform the planning and project teams
• Research alternative sources and equivalent parts for critical and long-lead-time materials
• Coordinate import processes (pro forma, order, payment, customs clearance, logistics)
• Work with the quality team to resolve nonconformities found at incoming inspection with the supplier
• Contribute to cost improvement and supplier development activities
• Keep purchasing records, contracts and supplier documentation organised and traceable
