Overview
Product and Purpose
The PowerGuard RCU-01 is a compact remote control unit for military power distribution units. It is mounted away from the rack-mounted power distribution unit, for example next to the operator console on a ship or in a command space. System power is switched on and off in sequence from here and cut with a single action in an emergency.
It is used with the PowerGuard DC-PDCU-11 military DC power distribution and control unit, connects through a single military-connector interconnection cable and needs no separate supply. The unit is designed and manufactured by TEDEG in Ankara; the photos show a pre-production unit.
Engineering Capability
The RCU-01 brings the main-power and emergency-stop functions of the power distribution unit to the operator's position. When the main switch is set to ON (1), the power distribution unit is energised and the outputs come on with the programmed sequenced power-up delays; in the OFF (0) position the outputs are switched off in sequence and the main unit is then de-energised.
Pressing the mushroom-type emergency stop cuts the input and output power of the power distribution unit immediately. The system is re-energised when the button is released and the main switch is cycled off and on. Three LEDs show the operator the power, output and fault status. Supply (18–36 VDC) and RS-485 communication are carried on the same cable, and removable mounting lugs allow mounting on the platform or in a panel.

Typical Applications
- Ships and surface platforms: main power and emergency stop of the rack-mounted power distribution unit at the operator console
- Command and control spaces: sequenced switch-on and switch-off of the mission systems from the operator's position
- Shelters: emergency stop and status indication near the operator, away from the equipment rack
- Operator console position: a single compact unit on the platform or in a panel, connected with one cable
Compatibility and Ordering Code
The RCU-01 is used with the PowerGuard DC-PDCU-11 through its J5 remote control connector. Ordering code: RCU-01-Cxx, where xx is the interconnection cable length in metres (C05 = 5 m, C10 = 10 m, C15 = 15 m). Example: RCU-01-C10: remote control unit with 10 m cable.
The TEDEG Advantage
One cable carries both supply and RS-485 communication, so the RCU-01 needs no separate power source at the operator position and installation stays simple. The DC-PDCU-11 and RCU-01 are designed together by TEDEG: the main switch on the RCU-01 follows the sequenced power-up and power-down delays programmed in the power distribution unit, and the latching emergency stop cuts its input and output power directly.

FAQ
Does it need a separate supply?+
No. The unit is powered from the power distribution unit over the interconnection cable (18–36 VDC), and the same cable carries the RS-485 communication.
How is the system restarted after an emergency stop?+
Release the emergency stop button, then switch the main switch off and on again. The power distribution unit re-energises with the programmed sequenced power-up.
Which units is it compatible with?+
It is used with the PowerGuard DC-PDCU-11 military DC power distribution and control unit, connected to its J5 remote control connector. The interconnection cable can be ordered in 5, 10 or 15 m lengths.
Where is it mounted?+
On the platform or in a panel with the removable mounting lugs, typically next to the operator console on a ship or in a command space.
What do the LEDs show?+
POWER (green) shows that the unit and the power distribution unit are energised, UNIT OPEN (green) shows that the outputs are on after the sequenced power-up, and FAULT (red) shows a fault or alarm in the power distribution unit.
